Ms. Emilia believes that it is her responsibility as a music teacher to help students become independent learners and life-long musicians. She approaches each student’s needs by employing different teaching strategies in their individual lessons— developing lessons to accommodate each of their learning styles. While music-making is at the heart of the lesson, it is also always important to help students to cooperate with their bodies and minds in the way they work best. Ms. Emilia believes that it is important for students to play with basic skills of healthy keyboard techniques and posture. She is also a firm believer in the benefits of music study for all individuals, regardless of ability and age. Piano study develops not only a lifelong appreciation and love for music, but also provide students with a new perspective on invaluable life-skills, such as commitment, responsibility, patience, confidence, dedication, diligence, determination, perseverance, discipline, and focus. Lastly, she believes that active parental involvement is crucial to establish a supportive learning culture and help students reach their goals.
